Daniel A. Lasdow

Mr. Lasdow holds a bachelor of Music Education degree from Lowell State College and a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from UMASS Lowell. Trumpet studies have been with John Coffey, Natalo Paella, Walter Chesnut and Steven Emery. Additional studies have been at Boston University and New England Conservatory.  As a trumpeter, he is a member of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony and the Academy Brass Quintet.  Mr. Lasdow has performed with the Cape Cod, Plymouth, Brockton and New Bedford Symphony Orchestras, Boston Brass Ensemble, A Touch of Brass Quintet, the Monomoy and Company theaters, the Chaminade Opera, the Fine Arts Chorale and numerous performances throughout New England.

Mr. Lasdow was Assistant Director of South Shore Conservatory, 2001-2005, in charge of the Arts Partners Community Outreach program and was ensemble coach of the Honors Brass Quintet. He retired as Director of Music in the East Bridgewater schools in 2001, a position he held since 1972.  He was instrumental music teacher and band director at Silver lake Jr. HS from 1968 to 1972.  A recipient of the Plymouth County Excellence in Teaching Award, Mr. Lasdow has also received the Lowell Mason Award and Distinguished Service Award from the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, the highest recognition by his colleagues in Music Education. 

Mr. Lasdow adjudicates the MICCA State Concert Band Festival each year and has judged SEMSBA and Southeast District auditions many times.  He has been invited to conduct the UMASS Lowell Summer Band, the SEMSBA Music Festival, the Central District Band, the MICCA Solo and Ensemble Festival and the Boston Public Schools Bands Festival.  The former conductor of the Tri-County Symphonic Band, Mr. Lasdow is frequently called to be a clinician in the school music programs of Massachusetts.

Private trumpet teaching includes students from Pembroke, Duxbury and Plymouth schools. Mr. Lasdow is the instrumental music teacher and band director at Manomet Elementary School.

 

Dan Lasdow will conduct the Tri-County Symphonic Band on Sunday, February 5, 2012.
