“Blazing the Trail: Women Lighting the Way” is a hybrid project connecting seven musical pieces written by women composers to the profiles of seven historic women of our region who were pioneers in the various fields of their endeavors. With the help from the good people at the New Bedford Whaling Museum project Lighting the Way: Historic Women of SouthCoast, we developed a fresh perspective on where women are now and how they have achieved numerous milestones over the years. Local women will take the podium to illustrate the stories of our “trailblazers” as the Tri-County Symphonic Band will frame the illustrations with a cornucopia of sonic delights from composers that are living and thriving as well as from one vintage composer of the 19th century. Clarinetist Pattie Marshall will also join us in the bright and sonorous “Rhapsody for Solo Clarinet and Band” by Anne McGinty:
